In my opinion the 2 most important parts of a guitar (for playability and sound) are the neck and the pickups. Also, I’m kinda cheap. So I decided to replace my Vintera 50s tele with a cheaper but hopefully just as good partscaster. I bought a used but mint condition classic vibe custom, and replaced the neck with a fat Vintera 50s from stratosphereparts.com, swapped the pickups for Lollar vintage Ts, and upgraded the bridge saddles and neck plate with Bensonite stuff. After selling the Squier neck and pickups, I’ll be into this guitar for about $625. I’ll sell the stock Vintera and be left with a guitar that sounds just as good (the lollars were in the Vintera previously) looks a little cooler with the binding and 3 tone burst, and some extra cash in my account 😎
And yeah a partscaster doesn’t have any resale value, but I can just sell the parts individually and easily get all my money back, if I ever decide I want something different.
